Is This Guy Serious? Oh My God, He Is Serious!

Bachmann is Bat Shit Crazy

So mostly this site is a satirical take on people who do, or say, or are ridiculous, and hopefully no one takes us seriously, but on this point I am actually writing because I'm afraid.  If I were to be defined politically I would probably be labeled a libertarian. With this distinction it is not surprising that I have been know to vote republican.  This small digression into my personal politics hopefully lays out that I am not a liberal agent of doom out to destroy republican candidates for President.

That being said, Michelle Bachmann is bat shit crazy and I am becoming increasingly more disturbed as she climbs in the poles.  I write this not to Bachmann, but to you, her supporters, who are obviously in a lot of pain because your heads are so far up your ass that the strain must be getting to you.  People who support Bachman claim that liberals are destroying this country. I guarantee you that no worse damage could be done to this country than if she were elected president.

Tea Party activists - how do you reconcile smaller government and Bachmann's crusade to stop porn and put a waiting period on divorces?  Both of those things could require the government to expand and reach even more into our daily lives. Not to mention trashing the first amendment that we all cherish so much.

Religious Fundamentalists - I can see you support her since she has helped write a book laying out why the American government should become a theocracy. I can see you being pleased that she went to a law school that encouraged it's 40% graduating class to interpret laws biblically, and act as change agents in this country. I do have one question though.  What makes you think she believes what you do? Even now you can enjoy your particular brand of crazy without interference from the government, but I don't think you would enjoy that freedom if Bachmann had her way.

In this blog we laughingly ask if the people we write about are serious.  I think that Bachmann is serious, and she actually believes God has asked her to do these things. I would so much rather it be an act, or some placating to energize her base, but the next time you see her on television, look in her eyes.  Like the title says, she is bat shit crazy and those who doubt it are equally as crazy. This is just an introduction to all the things about Bachmann that are utterly ridiculous.  I would not be surprised if more ITGS posts about Bachmann come up, because every time I listen to, watch, or read about Michelle Bachmann I ask, "Is this bat shit crazy woman serious?"

The Government

So, we don't usually put "The Government" as the recipient of the question, "Is this guy serious?" Let's be honest, if we did then we wouldn't be able to eat, sleep, or see our families since we would be writing all the time.  I did finally come across something so ridiculous that I couldn't help myself.

In October, Freddie Mac, which is a privately owned mortgage financier, but the government sponsors them, filed a claim in tax court saying they did not owe the IRS (Internal Revenue Service) 3 billion dollars in back taxes. Of course the IRS isn't backing down, saying that of course Freddie Mac owes the 3 billion dollars. What is so ridiculous about this you ask? I mean surely there must be lots of disputes like this with other companies.

Here is the lunacy. If the IRS wins and Freddie Mac ordered to pay the 3 billion then they will most likely pay that amount out of the billions of bailout dollars from the US Government. Whether the IRS wins or not doesn't matter since these two titans are fighting over our money.  When I say our money, I mean the United States taxpayer.  These two dismally douche entities are adding the cost of a court battle to determine who houses the taxpayers money. I don't see why Freddie just doesn't fork over the doe, since they get it right back in bailout money. I can understand either side standing on principal in this matter, but when I stand on principle I do it using my own money, they should do the same.

Kardashian sisters are stupid

Stupid SistersThis is one of those times where something goes without saying, but I am going to say it anyway. The Kardashian sisters are stupid.  Beyond the annoyance of being famous for absolutely nothing, and their propensity for mind numbing family in fighting, these sisters were the promoters of a "Kardashian Kard." This is a prepaid debit card with the sisters likeness on the front. The sisters didn't think to check out what the fees would be, they probably thought it was "so awesome" to be on a plastic card.

Right off the bat you are in the hole for 60 dollars (100 for 12 months), just for the worthless piece of plastic with the pictures of three of the most ridiculous people in the country. Now that the company the distributes the card is being investigated to see if they broke and predatory lending laws, the sisters say they want out.  I say keep them on the card so we can punish the people stupid enough to get it in the first place. The sisters will hide behind the excuse of, "we didn't realize," and it frosts my balls that they will get away with that excuse.  They have turned being dumb into an acceptable excuse. Douche bags

That being said I wouldn't mind having hate sex with two of the three sisters. Seriously, you know the two.

WeCanSolveIt.org – Al Gore’s MoveOn.org clone

WeCanSolveIt.org screenshot

Okay, here's the wonderful news: Instead of searching all over the internet for the Chicken Littles who believe that the world is ending due to man-made global warming, we now know where to go to find them.

Al Gore's PR machine has reached a new level with this website. With no facts pointing towards man's involvement in climate change, WeCanChangeIt.org points to 'empirical evidence' that spans all of 150 years.

*Newsflash* The earth has been warming since the last ice age.

Probably what ticks me off the most about this site is the fact that the video equates climate change with the Civil Rights struggle, D-Day, and putting a man on the moon. Al Gore is beating a dead horse with the global warming line. It seems that every day someone is debunking the theory of man-made global warming further - Now the fear is global cooling. Go figure.

Rudy Giuliani – U.S. Has the best healthcare system in the world!

Rudy Giuliani - Is This Guy Serious?

I know it's early, but in watching the debates from New Hampshire tonight I found it impossible to get past the fact that Rudy Giuliani just said we have the best healthcare system in the world. He didn't say the best healthcare, or the best doctors, or the best medicine - he said the best healthcare system. I understand it's still early in the debates, but what kind of douchebag is going to say that our healthcare system is the best?

We have millions of people without insurance, people who can't afford the insurance they have, people who can't get care, pharmaceutical companies making billions, and dozens of other fatal flaws in our system. The fact that somebody who expects to become president of the United States could possibly use the words "best", or even "good" when talking about the healthcare system in the united states is reprehensible. Is somebody going to man up and work to fix this problem?

Randall Shesto II – Rockin’ the Cradle

Randall Shesto II

Let me preface this mild rant by stating I have young daughter. Unless you have a young girl you're close to, you may not have the same visceral reaction I did when I read this news story about a heavy metal rocker who used his music as a way to ingratiate himself with young girls.

Randall Shesto II was convicted, for the SECOND time, of having sex with a 15 year old girl. I was astonished when I found he will only have to serve one month behind bars, then 5 years of probation. The judge also told Shesto that he cannot play in a band in public for the length of his probation. No doubt the judge thought that taking away Shesto's music was a stroke of genius; in my humble opinion Shesto should be castrated by both fathers of young girls he was with, then drawn and quartered using four Harleys ridden by the girls' parents. Just an opinion though.

Kerry’s Speeches Are Electrifying!

So the country seems to be in an uproar about the use of a taser on an unruly college student named Andrew Meyer during a John Kerry speech. Wonderful. I think that anyone who has watched this electrifying video can see why. Notice that people in the auditorium aren't outraged that Mr. Meyer was removed. They did become flustered when a taser was used to make him comply with police orders.

I am of the opinion that this was a justifiable use of force. Look at the alternative used on people like Andrew before the advent of tasers: A police officer would beat on you until you complied, and they were within their authority to do so. I can't get up in arms over a citizen refusing a lawful order. You are to do what the police officer says when he/she says it. If you feel wronged, you can complain after it's over. When a police officer tells you to do something, COMPLY! If someone holds this douchebag up as a beacon for freedom of speech, I may puke. Andrew Meyer is an idiot. Nothing more, nothing less.

John Atchison – To catch a DA

So, here is a story that will warm everyone's heart and make communities around the country feel better. We caught another child predator. Naturally this vicious man comes from an abusive family. No? Well then he must be someone who is homeless or of meager means. No? Obviously he is insane and needs institutional help. No? Who is this man you ask?

A FREAKING DISTRICT ATTORNEY. He hails from the great state of Florida. This man is a DA who spends his day putting bad guys in jail. Hypocrisy has now reach a new height . This man flew from Florida to Detroit with his only intention being to sleep with a 5 year old girl. Doesn't that just make you sick. Doing this sight, while fun, has forced me to look through news articles, and come across the worst humanity has to offer. This guy is at the top of the list. A man who swore to make people safer was in fact the wolf in sheep's clothing. Disgusting!!

John McCain – Democrats Unconstitutional

John McCain - Is this guy serious?

If there was one republican presidential candidate that I respected miles above the rest, John McCain was that guy. Until recently, he's the guy that I would have wanted to win if there was any chance he could make it past primaries. Recently though, Senator McCain  had some ridiculous things to say though about plans to withdraw troops from Iraq that have been proposed by congress -

"Where in the Constitution of the United States does it say that the Congress decides how long people will spend on tours of duty and how long they will spend back in the United States? It's blatantly unconstitutional," He said. "The Constitution of the United States said Congress will declare wars and fund wars."

Now I'm a few years out of school, so it's been a while since I took a government class, but my understanding was for something to be "blatantly unconstitutional" it had to somehow violate an unalienable right as granted by the constitution. I would absolutely love to hear some of my buddies in Iraq telling McCain what they've told me. If our guys in Iraq thought that coming home violated their constitutional rights, I'd be all over McCain...pretty sure they're not going to say that though.

Senator Reed – Misguided Response

Democratic Response to Bush Speech

I listened to Senator Reed’s rebuttal to the presidential address tonight. I was disappointed. Full disclosure: I feel that our presence in Iraq right now is necessary for a variety of reasons. Don’t comment here about the war. Comment about the next paragraph.

The following goes for all politicians, though with Senator Reed’s speech I’ll focus on some routine ‘Left’ issues. The senator made a point about us not having the money for children’s health care, etc, because of our presence in Iraq. I would submit to you that it’s not true that we don’t ‘have enough money’ for child health care. For most people who cry about this issue, the only way to have ‘enough money’ is to spend all the money we have on it. I also submit to you, that if we aren’t spending enough money on child health care, that it’s the greedy bastards in congress causing it. It’s called pork spending, and if you don’t know what it is, then don’t vote; I only want informed people choosing leaders.

Reed suggested that it was time to redefine our mission in Iraq, but didn’t offer much in the way of evidence as to why it would work. I can point to present policy and show incremental gains. I can point to a lack of troop numbers decreasing the ability of Iraqi leaders to meet benchmarks (yes, they HAVE met some). I can’t wrap my mind around how less troops will make things better in a strategic way. Tactically, the American people at home would feel better (short term). Strategically, I believe it would be a horrible mistake. But that’s for later.

In short, let’s have a real debate between political leaders. Lay the plans out on the table. Don’t yell about how the other person’s plan sucks, talk about why your plan is better in both the short and long term. “Quit talking, and just whip them out and measure them,” as my father said once to me and my brother. Congress, just whip them out.
