I Want to Cut his Nuts Off – Jesse Jackson

Jesse Jackson - Wants to Cut off Barack Obama's nuts

You've probably already heard, but "The Rev" is at it again. And by At it, I mean saying ridiculous things that nobody cares about and then apologizing for them. As if it wasn't bad enough that Jesse Jackson is the worst thing to happen to the black community since 5 syllable names that end with "ita", he was recently caught on microphone saying that presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee Barack Obama was talking down to black people, and that The Rev wanted to "Cut his Nuts Off".

When I first heard about Jesse Jackson's ludicrous remarks I laughed and asked myself "Is This Guy Serious?", but then I started to think about how great it is for Barack Obama that Jesse Jackson is doing things like this that alienate him from the Obama campaign. The more that people see Barack Obama isn't interested in the likes of people like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, the better off he'll end up in the long run. What kills me though is the hypocrisies spewed by these guys. Jesse Jackson stands on a soapbox all day delivering messages of tolerance, and as soon as he thinks nobody is listening he is spouting off vile and violent remarks. Sick.

Rudy Giuliani – U.S. Has the best healthcare system in the world!

Rudy Giuliani - Is This Guy Serious?

I know it's early, but in watching the debates from New Hampshire tonight I found it impossible to get past the fact that Rudy Giuliani just said we have the best healthcare system in the world. He didn't say the best healthcare, or the best doctors, or the best medicine - he said the best healthcare system. I understand it's still early in the debates, but what kind of douchebag is going to say that our healthcare system is the best?

We have millions of people without insurance, people who can't afford the insurance they have, people who can't get care, pharmaceutical companies making billions, and dozens of other fatal flaws in our system. The fact that somebody who expects to become president of the United States could possibly use the words "best", or even "good" when talking about the healthcare system in the united states is reprehensible. Is somebody going to man up and work to fix this problem?

Mike Huckabee – Wants men to Rape your Daughters?

Mike Huckabee

HE WHAT??? Yes I'm aware of the outlandishness of my subject line, but I have to call them like I see them. I just found out that Mike Huckabee actually advocated paroling a rapist. Aside from the fact that this guy, Wayne DuMond, was a RAPIST, and on that one fact alone Huckabee should have never even gotten involved; if you have aspirations to compete on the national level in the Republican party, you can not be advocating the release of a man that forces himself on women.

After DuMond was released, with in a year, he is arrested for raping and Murdering another girl. This is the part that really pisses me off. Huckabee says, "There's nothing any of us could ever do, None of us could've predicted what he could've done when he got out." I could've predicted that the guy would probably RAPE SOMEONE. I certainly don't want this kind of judgment in my White House!

Jesse Jackson – Pulling a Kanye West

Jesse Jackson - Is This Guy Serious

In a shocking Kanye West Move, Jesse Jackson is claiming that an influential group of people don't care about the black folk. The group in question? Democratic Presidential candidates (Barak Obama included, only John Edwards excluded.) In the Chicago Sun-Times Op Ed section today,  The Rev. registered his concerns publicly, indicating that the democratic presidential candidates did not care about the plight of the black man, and were paying no attention to issues that affected them.

Now I'm no politician (yet), but it would seem to me that the idea behind governing a nation like the United States is that all people are created equal. By perpetuating the idea that we need to pay special attention to "the plight of the blak man", we're essentially writing a blank check to a large demographic and teling them "It's okay, screw up all you want.  Nobody expects anything from you." Maybe if we didn't hold our citizens to different standards, there wouldn't be discrepancies. By championing the need for specific programs and legislation aimed at one group, we are letting them off the hook.

When it comes right down to it, a black student with average grades has a better chance getting into most universities than a white student with perfect marks, and has a much great chance at getting scholarships to pay for their entire education. We can't be parents to screw-up kids, and we can't be safety nets for screwup parents. I'm all for legislation that gives people equal opportunities if there are legitimate precedences for not providing equal opportunities, but that's not the kind of stuff that Jesse Jackson is championing, he wants the government to fix black people's problems. Short answer? No.

Hilary Clinton on Is This Guy Serious

First, I've got to apologize for our lack of updates. Have no fear, we have plenty in the works. If Hillary Clinton is any indication though there's plenty to talk about when it comes to people in the public eye doing insanely ludicrous things. Today's post comes after a week in which two separate people alleged that staff members from Hillary Clinton's campaign approached them and suggested they ask specific questions at Clinton's appearances. While I understand that these guys want to win, it strikes me as flat out terrifying that the idea of trying to get specific questions asked of them is nothing less than an insult to democracy. After the first instance, in which a Female college student called the Clinton appearance "canned", and explained that she was told to ask a certain question, NBC confirmed the allegation with Clinton Staffers.

“On this occasion, a member of our staff did discuss a possible question about Senator Clinton's energy plan at a forum,” a campaign spokesperson said. “However, Senator Clinton did not know which questioners she was calling on during the event. This is not standard policy and will not be repeated again.”

I read this to mean "we'll be much more discreet the next time we try to cheat!"

John McCain – Democrats Unconstitutional

John McCain - Is this guy serious?

If there was one republican presidential candidate that I respected miles above the rest, John McCain was that guy. Until recently, he's the guy that I would have wanted to win if there was any chance he could make it past primaries. Recently though, Senator McCain  had some ridiculous things to say though about plans to withdraw troops from Iraq that have been proposed by congress -

"Where in the Constitution of the United States does it say that the Congress decides how long people will spend on tours of duty and how long they will spend back in the United States? It's blatantly unconstitutional," He said. "The Constitution of the United States said Congress will declare wars and fund wars."

Now I'm a few years out of school, so it's been a while since I took a government class, but my understanding was for something to be "blatantly unconstitutional" it had to somehow violate an unalienable right as granted by the constitution. I would absolutely love to hear some of my buddies in Iraq telling McCain what they've told me. If our guys in Iraq thought that coming home violated their constitutional rights, I'd be all over McCain...pretty sure they're not going to say that though.

Mike Gravel – America fatter and dumber

Mike Gravel - is this guy serious?

You might ask yourself - Is Tony putting this guy up just because he looks like Wilferd Brimley? Well the answer is 'partially'.  Former Alaskan senator Mike Gravel recently told Bill Maher that "America is getting fatter and dumber." which as true as it is, could have been worded so much more elegantly.  Masking his arrogance and ignorance with feigned kindness, he went on to say that the "definition of a friend is someone who tells the truth." While the only reason this guy is in the news at all is that he is attempting a run for the democratic presidental nomination, he really is a nobody.

So Mr. Brimley (No, he's not the oatmeal guy, but look at the resemblance!),  because I want to be friends, I'll tell you the truth. You are stupid. You are not charasmatic enough to attempt to make assertions like this in such a tongue-in-cheek manner, and there's no way you will ever win anything again. While Americans obviously have issues, insults are not going to make things better. Get a clue.
