Mike Gravel – America fatter and dumber

Mike Gravel - is this guy serious?

You might ask yourself - Is Tony putting this guy up just because he looks like Wilferd Brimley? Well the answer is 'partially'.  Former Alaskan senator Mike Gravel recently told Bill Maher that "America is getting fatter and dumber." which as true as it is, could have been worded so much more elegantly.  Masking his arrogance and ignorance with feigned kindness, he went on to say that the "definition of a friend is someone who tells the truth." While the only reason this guy is in the news at all is that he is attempting a run for the democratic presidental nomination, he really is a nobody.

So Mr. Brimley (No, he's not the oatmeal guy, but look at the resemblance!),  because I want to be friends, I'll tell you the truth. You are stupid. You are not charasmatic enough to attempt to make assertions like this in such a tongue-in-cheek manner, and there's no way you will ever win anything again. While Americans obviously have issues, insults are not going to make things better. Get a clue.

  1. Did you read the whole transcript?… you may be demonstating the point… be sure to read the whole transcript on Huffington Post… also please familiarize yourself with his record… have you heard of Vietnam?.. Sen. Gravel’s role during that preview to Iraq is epic heroism… pls do your research… Thank you.

  2. Lynne, thanks for the comment…I did read the whole transcript, and I implore you to explain what Vietnam has to do with my taking issue with the fact that Mike Gravel thought it necessary to come out and say “Americans are getting fatter and dumber” instead of acknowledging that Charlie Rose may be correct, but not utilizing the same harsh verbiage. Do I agree with them? 100%. Unfortunately this isn’t quite the brutal honesty that I believe we need to see displayed by our candidates for the highest political office in the country. While this is a completely toungue-in-cheek site, we do research issues like this one. Again..vietname? What?

  3. Let’s see, more that 25% of people in almost every state are considered obese. At least 50% + think that our country was found on Christian principles. So doesn’t that say 1) people don’t read the ingredients on their Bic Mac box or candy wrapper and 2) they need to actually read the Constitution and about the people involved in its creation. You’re right, we need to keep wearing fat, dumb cushioned gloves so as not to hurt the increasing number of Type II diabetics or illiterate people’s feelings. I’m not fat and I know how to read Big Mac – Toughen up Tony – it’s about time somoeone in politics actually told the truth the way it looks. Fat and dumb. By the way, since the ‘i” is on the opposite end of the keyboard from the ‘a’ ‘char ‘i’smatic is spelled with an I not an A. Let’s support the truthsayers, shall we?

  4. I agree, lets take all of the gloves off. Americans are fat and dumb, teenagers are stupid and are bad drivers, old people plow into farmer’s markets, and black people are only held back in life by the notions that they themselves perpetuate. Lets get Mike Gravel in to give speeches to high school girls next…he can be nothing but brutally honest about how fat they are, and he can further foster the feelings of inadequacy by attacking a symptom of a problem, and not the root of the problem. Next we’ll ask him to give speeches for N.A.A.C.P. meetings to explain “Everything is your fault…shut up and fix your lives.” These things need to be said, without a doubt. If the aim though is to approach a problem with the intent of fixing it, or creating social awareness, then the tongue-in-cheek approach that many would consider combative is not going to work…and way to attack the typos, I make it personal when I run out of intelligent things to say as well!

  5. HAHA. . .Matt, you got served! lmfao
